Sexy Phillies Opponent of the Series: Chris Coghlan, FLA

One hot summer night I was kicking back at CBP like usual, just enjoying watching my team take on the Fish. A left fielder I’d never heard of was introduced up to bat, and once I saw his mug splashed across the Phanavision, I knew I found my next Marlin love (after Josh Beckett, of course – but that’s another post for another series!) Turns out he was a rookie, and what a rookie he was!

Chris Coghlan, LF
Florida Marlins #8

Our second Left Fielder in a row, Chris Coghlan is a newcomer to The Show, but that doesn’t mean he’s any less sexy!  He was on fire the whole second half of the season, quickly making a name for himself in the NL East and around the horn.  He was first drafted by the Diamondbacks, but lucky for us, he’s a hottie that also has a brain. He chose to forego signing to attend college. He was then drafted by the Marlins in 2006, and entered their system.

The 24-year-old Floridian made his Major League debut on May 8, 2009. By August 9th, he set the team record for most consecutive hit games at 8. He was the Rookie of the Month for August after knocking 47 base hits, the most by a rookie since The Bearded One Todd Helton did it in 1998. He followed August with 50 hits in both September and October, proving he was no fluke. On November 16th, he took home the National League Rookie of the Year award for his stellar performance.

Who doesn't love a man who can rock the Glove Hat?!

AND he’s a major hottie! Tall, built, and tan, he is definitely the best part of attending a Marlins game (that’s right, I went there).  His skill in left field is awesome, he can swing a mean bat, and he’s not too bad on the eyes! He’s also pretty active on Twitter as @Cogz4Christ, often posting about team activities and games and his personal life as evidenced here and here. Who doesn’t love an accessible babe?!

ASSets + an Oops! moment = win.
